Meet Sophie Sharp

LAMFT, (she/her)

Specialties: children/teens/families, family conflict/disconnection, life transitions, couples entering parenthood, couples/family navigating new diagnoses of family members, family of origin concerns

My goal as a clinician is to support healthy caregiver-child relationships by providing compassionate guidance to families navigating various life transitions. Whether your child is managing a new diagnosis, starting at a new school, moving into adolescence, or you yourself are transitioning into adulthood or parenthood, I am dedicated to helping your family thrive.

My training in couple and family therapy allows me to see each individual family member as part of a larger system that influences how they show up in relationships. My work with clients takes into consideration early family of origin experiences, attachment and trauma history, current stressors and important relationships, and access to support and resources. This expansive way of thinking can help reduce feelings of shame in clients who have been labeled as “the problem” at school or in their family or friend-group.

My practice draws on Narrative Therapy, Bowenian Therapy, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy to help families explore their stories about parenthood, self-efficacy, attachment, and identity. My strengths-based approach helps families identify what is already working and encourages them to get curious about what they might like to see change.

In my work with children, my mission is to empower them to express themselves and explore their thoughts and feelings in a safe, nurturing and playful environment. With a deep understanding of child development influenced by years of experience in developmental psychology and neuroscience research I employ a blend of evidence-based techniques and creative interventions tailored to each child's unique needs. Whether addressing anxiety, behavioral challenges, self-esteem, or trauma, I collaborate closely with parents and caregivers to support lasting growth and change in the family system.
