Specialties: Play Therapy, Child & Teen Mental Health, EMDR, IFS, Trauma, Neurodivergence, OCD, LGBTQ+ children/teens/young adults

Hi, I’m Sophie! I specialize in working with children, teens, young adults, and families, as well as people of any age who have experienced trauma. I strive to create a warm, accepting and welcoming environment in which clients are able to show up as their whole selves and feel safe, seen and supported.

As an integrative play therapist, I am passionate about supporting children through the healing power of play- the language they speak best! I provide an empathetic and attuned presence which allows me to enter a child’s inner world through their play with compassion, curiosity, and warmth. My approach is grounded in child-centered techniques, blending my expertise in Child-Centered Play therapy, Sandtray therapy, Gestalt play therapy, and creative and expressive art therapies to best support each child’s unique experiences and needs.

For children and teens who are struggling with OCD, I recognize the impact this has on the entire family system and offer support which empowers children and caregivers alike through playful ERP and coaching on supportive parenting which breaks the OCD cycle.

My collaboration and partnership with my child clients’ caregivers is a crucial part of a child’s healing journey. These sessions with caregivers and families seek to demystify the (sometimes confusing or frustrating!) ways that children bravely communicate their unmet needs, and provide caregivers with the insight and means to strengthen their attachment and connection with their child. I am also trained in Emotionally-Focused Family Therapy, and can work with the entire family system to strengthen connection

I also specialize in supporting clients of any age who have experienced trauma, with a particular passion for working with survivors of sexual abuse and assault. I deeply understand the profound ripple effect that traumatic experiences can have, both internally and externally. In the wake of trauma, many parts of us carry feelings of shame, fear, anger, and grief that can disrupt mental and emotional wellbeing, interpersonal relationships, and sense of self. My expertise and training in EMDR and Internal Family Systems offers a path toward deep, embodied, and transformational healing. For children who have experienced trauma, my training in TraumaPlay, Theraplay, and play-based EMDR allow children the opportunity to heal from experiences they may not have the words to express.

I am a neurodiversity-affirming and queer-affirming/identified therapist, which means I support and celebrate identity exploration and authentic self-expression at every age and season of life. I am committed to cultural humility and recognition of the way each person’s unique background shapes the way they walk through the world and navigate systems that are often not set up to support those who need it most. In our work together, each and every part of you is welcome!

Whether you are seeking support for yourself, your child, or your family, I would be honored to walk alongside you in your journey towards healing and self-discovery!
