Therapy for Young Adults
Serving Center City, Philadelphia and surrounding areas
When people look at you, they see a happy, successful young adult. But on the inside, you feel anxious, sad, and overwhelmed ... like this “mask” might slip at any moment.
Maybe you're navigating a breakup and wondering why your relationships never seem to work. Maybe you feel isolated from your friend group, even though you go out of your way to be the best friend you can be.
Maybe you simply feel like a failure, like you can’t measure up to others’ standards (or the ones you’ve set for yourself).
Whatever it is, you feel stuck, and you are looking for support to move forward. We can help. You’ve now spent months — maybe even years — feeling “off,” and you’re ready for some relief. You know it’s time to find someone who can help get to the root of this.
Relief is within reach.
It may feel impossible right now, but you can feel secure in your relationships. You can feel confident in the amazing person you are. You can feel at peace with your past. And we can help you get there.
We’ll spend time unpacking the burdens you’re carrying, talking through your experiences to understand the purpose they’re serving. We’ll undo the shame associated with the parts of yourself you don’t like … because underneath those things lie your strength.
Why us?
Our training in both child and adult therapies means we can work through everything you're struggling with — no matter what its cause or when it began. And because we’ve walked this road ourselves, we can understand the things you’re struggling with in a very real way.
Choosing a therapist is a big decision! Schedule a free consultation with one of us today, and we’ll determine if we’re a good fit. If we’re not, we can connect with you with a number of other talented therapists in our area — because at the end of the day, this is about you getting the healing, clarity, and peace you deserve.
People-pleasing, anxiety, and guilt don't have to define your story.
A few main specialties that we support adults with:
-
The mood swings, hostility, entitlement, weaponized silence, degrading comments framed as ‘opinions’, and triangulation with others, and more.
What’s harder is it feels like you’re the only one who sees it.
Your sibling, complicit parent, or relatives make you seem like the problem for not bending to your emotionally immature parent's demands.
-
Attachment styles exist beyond a 10-question Cosmo quiz or a TikTok trend. In truth, you are more than just a single attachment style.
There are parts of you with different attachment strategies and different attachment ‘states’. We also have different attachment behaviors with different people at different stages of the relationship!
This may explain why you feel like your attachment experience doesn’t fit into a box, especially if you’re queer or neurodivergent, too.

Maybe you started out your college life feeling excited, proud of yourself, and a bit nervous (though maybe that wasn’t frequently said out loud). Now you’re in it- and you’re feeling more stressed than you expected.
-
You’re having trouble getting out of bed, in spite of everything on your “to-do” list that feels like it just keeps getting bigger. You just wish your person was here to do it with you, and the fact that they’re not makes all the things feel less worth it. The job promotion, the new car, the college graduation- none of it feels like it really matters without your person there to celebrate with you.

We’ve worked with hundreds of clients recovering from a breakup who feel just like you—alone, hopeless, sad, and angry. We can assure you we have never uncovered anyone who is inherently unlovable, broken, or flawed. You deserve to feel good about yourself, regardless of whether or not you have that plus one. You can heal from your heartache at a pace that honors your relationship history and feels right for you.

Our therapists are extensively trained in understanding the dynamics of CSA and the ways it can show up in adulthood. This ensures we understand your symptoms and can provide you with treatment that solves the issue at its root.
Our experience as child therapists provides a deeper layer of specialization to understand how the abuse may have uniquely impacted you based on your age and development.

Between the anxiety, flashbacks, and self-doubt, it’s hard to focus on work, friendships, or resume activities you used to enjoy. You startle easily, feel overwhelmed, or are completely detached from your body and reality.
You feel alone, and concerned about how others may respond to your experience. What if they minimize your experience or force you to take action you’re not ready for?
You question if what you experienced was actually assault, and blame yourself for what happened. What if no one believes you?
Therapy can help you start to feel better, make sense of your experience, and feel more control over triggers and overwhelming emotions.

ABOUT THERAPY FOR YOUNG ADULTS
-
Generally, we will meet for 50-55 minutes every week. Therapy sessions will include more than just talking about your problems (although that’s a very important part!). As therapists specializing in childhood trauma, anxiety treatment, and trauma therapy, we will tailor therapy to what will be most effective. This means we will go beyond “just talking” or “rehashing” old pain and utilize a variety of methods (including sand tray therapy and other creative methods) to help you identify and experience (in a new, helpful way) your deepest emotions, wants and needs, in order to be able to relate to yourself and others more compassionately and effectively. The places inside your heart and mind that feel too scary to go, we will go with you.

It’s easy to compare our experiences to others. Perhaps you were not witness to abuse growing up or severely neglected by your parents. Maybe you’ve never experienced a large traumatic event. This does not discount what has occurred. Sometimes the most painful wounds in our lives are actually small, seemingly meaningless ones that add up over time.
Therapy at All of You Therapy, including trauma therapy, isn’t just for severe trauma victims. If you’re realizing that your anxiety, depression, or general unhappiness is beginning to affect other aspects of your life, then you can benefit from our working together.

Believe it or not, it’s actually our expertise with kids that makes our work with adults so powerful. Many therapists are focused on helping you cope with the problems you’ve experienced, which can be very beneficial. However, our understanding of children means we don’t just understand adults as they are right now; we understand the kid they were (and, in many ways, still are).
Therapy is about more than just coping with what’s at hand today; it’s about understanding and healing what’s gotten you here. Because that is where true freedom lies.
